RENO - Backup quarterback Devin Combs hit Aaron Bradley with a 24-yard touchdown pass in overtime, and UNR came from behind to beat Wyoming 35-28 on Saturday.
In a strange game that saw both teams lose their starting quarterbacks, the Wolf Pack tied the game in the final seconds of regulation as Combs connected with Richie Turner from 44 yards out to tie the score at 28.
UNR (5-1, 2-0 Mountain West) led 21-7 in the second quarter when starting quarterback Cody Fajardo went down with back spasms with 5:04 left to play. He did not return.
Fajardo was 19 of 26 for 221 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception. Combs finished 11 of 19 for 217 yards and two touchdowns.
Wyoming (1-4, 0-1) came back behind quarterback Brett Smith, who was ejected with 8:16 left in the fourth quarter after receiving a second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
■ Navy 28, Air Force 21 - At Air Force Academy, Colo., right guard Jake Zuzek recovered quarterback Keenan Reynolds' fumbled snap in the end zone for a touchdown in overtime, and the Midshipmen held on to beat the Falcons.
After the unusual touchdown, Navy defensive end Wes Henderson knocked down Connor Dietz's pass on fourth-and-6 from the 21 to seal the win, a significant first step in the Midshipmen's quest to regain the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy.
Navy (2-4) needs only to beat Army on Dec. 8 to regain the trophy that represents superiority among the three service academies. The Falcons (2-3) have won it the past two years, and if the teams all finish 1-1 in the round-robin competition, the previous winner keeps the prize.
■ Boise State 40, Southern Mississippi 14 - At Hattiesburg, Miss., Joe Southwick threw for three touchdowns, and the Broncos took advantage of five turnovers to beat the Golden Eagles.
The Broncos (4-1) won their fourth straight by intercepting Golden Eagles quarterback Ricky Lloyd twice and recovering three of four fumbles by Southern Miss, which is 0-5 for the first time since 1976.
■ New Mexico 35, Texas State 14 - At Albuquerque, N.M., Kasey Carrier ran for four touchdowns and a career-high 191 yards to lead the Lobos past the Bobcats (2-3).
Carrier had TD runs of 37, 1, 19 and 43 yards for the Lobos (3-3). New Mexico completed only one pass on three attempts for 9 yards, but the Lobos piled up 361 rushing yards, the fourth time this season they have gained at least 300 yards on the ground.
■ Fresno State 28, Colorado State 7 - At Fort Collins, Colo., Derek Carr threw four touchdown passes, including two to Davante Adams, and the Bulldogs shut down the Rams (1-5, 0-2) until the final moments.
Safety Phillip Thomas forced a fumble and had his NCAA-leading sixth interception of the season, and Robbie Rouse added 124 yards rushing on 26 carries for Fresno State (4-2, 2-0).
■ San Diego State 52, Hawaii 14 - At San Diego, Ryan Katz ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more as the Aztecs routed the Warriors (1-4, 0-2).
With 52 points, San Diego State (3-3, 1-1) matched its record for most points scored in a game. The previous 52 points came during a win against Portland State in 2007.
