ENTRIES SOUGHT FOR SUPERRUN CAR SHOW

Henderson is seeking entries for the 2012 SuperRun Classic Car Show scheduled for Sept. 20-23 in the Water Street District. It is the show's 13th anniversary. Registration before Sept. 10 is $50, with space limited to the first 1,000 entries. For more information, visit hendersonlive.com.

POLICE DEPARTMENT hands OUT TICKETS
FOR GOOD BEHAVIOR

The Henderson Police Department, in partnership with 7-Eleven, is looking out for youths doing good deeds as part of "Operation Chill."

Officers plan to hand out coupons for 12-ounce Slurpees when they see youngsters doing something helpful, participating in a community activity or deterring crime.

Downtown Henderson residents group set to meet today

Downtown Henderson residents are invited to attend the next meeting of the new Downtown Residential Civic Alliance at 6 p.m. today in the conference room in the city of Henderson's City Hall Annex, 280 S. Water St.

The organization is being spearheaded by the city's Redevelopment Agency to provide a forum for downtown Henderson residents to share their input and concerns regarding issues that affect their neighborhood.

Las Vegas Councilman Beers
to speak at women's luncheon

Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Beers is scheduled to be the guest speaker at the Southern Hills Republican Women's June 26 luncheon at Buckman's, 2600 Hampton Road in Sun City Anthem. Doors open 10:45 a.m., and lunch is scheduled to be served at 11:30 a.m.

Beers is a former newscaster, certified public accountant, state legislator and state senator.

During the luncheon, donations may be made to the military through a basket drawing. Guests also can buy Republican jewelry.

Reservations with a $22 check should be mailed to Donna Lakers, 1817 Tarrant City Drive, Henderson, NV 89052 by Thursday. Walk-ins are $25.

SEMINAR to discuss DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS

The Foundation for Wellness Professional is scheduled to host a seminar on digestive problems at 6:30 p.m. June 28 at Greens & Proteins, 8975 S. Eastern Ave. People can learn about natural solutions to digestive issues.

The seminar is free and open to the public. Registration is required.

Liberty High School to host
basketball camp july 16-20

Liberty High School, 3750 Liberty Heights Ave., is scheduled to host a basketball camp for boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade from 9 a.m. to noon July 16-20. Cost is $25 per day and $10 per extra work session.

Registration for the Henderson parks and recreation department's summer classes, events and programs is under way . People can register online at cityofhenderson.com/parks or at a self-serve kiosk at any of the city's recreation centers. Registration is expected to stay open pending space availability.
