INPUT SOUGHT ON PROPOSAL
TO BUILD CITY PARK ON PUBLIC LAND

The Bureau of Land Management’s Las Vegas field office is seeking public input through Aug. 19 on a proposal to lease roughly 12 acres of public land to the city of Las Vegas to build a park south of Kyle Canyon Road and west of Puli Drive.

The park would include group and single picnic shelters, a dog park, a child splash pad play area, a shaded child play area, meandering interpretive walking paths and trails, a parking area, restrooms and open space . Off-site work would include curb improvements, gutter improvements, sidewalk upgrades and street lighting.

SIGN-UPS START FOR SUMMER DAY CAMP

Registration is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 23 for a youth summer day camp at the Cimarron Rose Community Center, 5591 N. Cimarron Road .

Children ages 6-11 can look forward to field trips, sports, special events, physical fitness , games, arts, crafts and nutrition training under the supervision of trained staff members.

The cost is $75 per child per week and $70 for each additional child in the family. Registration is set to close when the camp is full. For more information, call 702-229-1607.

GOLDEN RAINBOW EVENT RAISES $152,000

Golden Rainbow’s 27th annual Ribbon Of Life event raised more than $152,000 through ticket sales and a silent auction to help combat HIV-AIDS.

The event took place June 30 at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, 361 Symphony Park Ave., and featured performances by local and national talent .
