HENDERSON PLANS WATERDAY EVENT FOR AUG. 3 AT EVENTS PLAZA

The city of Henderson has scheduled its inaugural Waterday Street Market event at 5 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St.

The event, which is planned for the first Saturday of every month, is expected to feature entertainment and vendors. The event is free and open to the public.

LEADERSHIP HENDERSON looking for NONPROFIT AS PARTNER

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Henderson program is accepting applications from nonprofits and schools.

One program is expected to be selected for the 2014 class of Leadership Henderson as a partner.

URGENT CARE FACILITY CHANGEs name

Urgent care franchise Doctors Express is changing its name to AFC Doctors Express Urgent Care.

American Family Care, a Southeast health care provider, is combining with the organization.

The facility has one location in Henderson at 655 S. Green Valley Parkway.

PROGRAM TO TEACH ABOUT DIABETES

The Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, is scheduled to host a program on diabetes at 10 a.m. July 26.

The Stanford Medical School’s Diabetes Self-Management Program is expected to teach people skills to deal with symptoms of diabetes such as fatigue and pain.

The seminar is scheduled to repeat Aug. 2, 9 and 16.

City seeks hubcap artists

The city of Henderson has issued a call for artists to participate in its second annual SuperRun Hubcap Art Gallery, which is scheduled to be displayed Sept. 27-29 at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to transform hubcaps into art pieces. After display, the artists have the option of donating their pieces for silent auction to raise funds for the City Lights Youth Scholarship Fund. Hubcaps to use as canvases cost $5 and can be purchased until Aug. 28.

Metal artist Chris O’Rourke is set to be the featured artist at this year’s Hubcap Art Gallery. For more information, call 702-267-2171.
