MCDONALD’S TO OFFER FREE BACK TO SCHOOL BREAKFAST

The Greater Las Vegas McDonald’s Operator Association plans to serve free breakfast to students in kindergarten through eighth grade from 6 to 9 a.m. Aug. 26 in honor of the first day of school. The free breakfast will be available at all participating Southern Nevada McDonald’s restaurants.

Children can choose between an Egg McMuffin or Egg White Delight McMuffin and will also receive apple slices and a choice of milk or orange juice. Parents accompanying their children will receive a free small coffee.

The offer is available while supplies last and not for drive-thru.

Tickets for the fourth annual Grapes & Hops Festival are on sale at springspreserve.org. The wine- and beer-tasting event, scheduled for Oct. 5, will benefit breast cancer research.

Advance tickets are $40 each or two for $70. Remaining tickets will be sold at the gate for $50 each.

EASTER SEALS NEVADA TO HOST WOMEN’S TEA AUG. 21

Easter Seals Nevada plans to host its first Women’s Tea from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Four Seasons Hotel, 3960 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The event will honor the community support of Neyda Becker, past chairman of the Easter Seals Nevada board; Dawn Gibbons, senior vice president of communication and government relations for KSNV TV-3; Darlene Krenitz, controller for SHFL entertainment; Jerrie Merritt, senior vice president of community development for Bank of Nevada; and Kate Whiteley, vice president of public relations for Kirvin Doak Communications.

Attendees are invited to wear their favorite fascinators and enjoy the Tea Garden, sponsored by Naakiti Floral, which will showcase women business owners in the valley. Following the Tea Garden, Steph Mackenzie of 97.1 The Point will host the event set to include an assortment of teas, pastries and petite sandwiches. A presentation on fall fashions is planned.

Proceeds will help fund Easter Seals Nevada’s Make the First Five Count program.

LAS VEGAS RESTAURANT WEEK SET FOR AUG. 23-30

Las Vegas Restaurant Week is scheduled for Aug. 23-30 to raise funds for Three Square food bank. Restaurants across the valley plan to feature prix fixe, three-course menus for $20.13 to $50.13, with a portion of the proceeds from each meal sold going to the food bank.

ECHO & RIG COMING TO TIVOLI VILLAGE

Echo & Rig Butcher and Steakhouse is scheduled to debut at Tivoli Village, 440 S. Rampart Blvd., in August.

The creation of Sam Marvin, the restaurant will also feature the Echo & Rig Butcher Shop, with a large open glass meat locker, displays and a demonstration area.

The restaurant’s menu will have more than 90 items made with natural prime grass-fed beef, wild day-boat seafood and farmers market fresh fruits and vegetables. Prices will range from $18 per person for brunch, $24 for lunch and less than $35 for dinner.

Breakfast will be offered daily, and a lunch and dinner menu will start at 11 a.m. A late-night menu will be available on weekends and brunch on Saturday and Sunday.

TRAVELING FOOD FESTIVAL COMING TO LAS VEGAS SEPT. 27-28

The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America Local Flavor from Coast to Coast Traveling Food Festival is scheduled to stop in Las Vegas Sept. 27-28.

The event will showcase culinary all-stars and public events exploring the nation’s unique range of local cuisines.

Free culinary consumer events are set to kick off the weekend Sept. 27, with details to be announced, followed by an exclusive dining event at The Mirage at 8 p.m. Sept. 28. A poolside gala tasting and reception, A Taste of America, will be co-hosted by James Beard Award winner and Taste America All-Star Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto and host chef Christian Schmidt.

COSMOPOLITAN TO HOST LUCKYRICE CULINARY FESTIVAL IN OCTOBER

The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host LUCKYRICE, a culinary festival focused on Asian cultures, from Oct. 4-6.

Festival highlights include an opening ceremony set for Oct. 4 at the Boulevard Pool and featuring an assortment of teas and entertainment, including Lion Dances, Koto and Pipa musical performances. The ceremony will be free to hotel guests and festival ticket holders.

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL ANNOUNCES CULINARY LINEUP FOR OCTOBER FESTIVAL

The Life is Beautiful Festival has announced its lineup of culinary programming for the inaugural event set for Oct. 26-27 in downtown Las Vegas. More than 60 chefs and restaurants, 24 wineries and 24 breweries are expected to participate.

General admission will include access to The Culinary Village and The Alchemy Garden & Chefs on Stage. Other ticketed events that will not require a festival ticket include the Grills & Guitars kickoff party hosted by Blue Ribbon Restaurants, the Take a Stand charity soiree and an eight-course dinner hosted by Elizabeth Blau and Hubert Keller benefiting Three Square food bank and Communities in Schools.

The Life is Beautiful: Take A Stand Dinner is set to benefit Communities In Schools of Nevada and Three Square food bank Oct. 25.

Chefs Elizabeth Blau and Hubert Keller are scheduled to attend the event, which will feature a dinner by eight award-winning chefs serving eight courses in various styles with wine pairings and cocktails. The $5,000 dinner is set for a secret location.

On Nov. 1 from 5 to 9 p.m., the third annual Harvest for Hope is set to benefit CISN, featuring a night of fall fun for the whole family at the Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
