Dining Pick of the Week: Cadillac Joe's

The Opera House Casino, 2542 Las Vegas Blvd. North at McCarran Street, 702-649-8801

There’s an old-school feel to this comfortable restaurant that begins with a friendly staff and a familiar menu with familiar prices. Breakfast features biscuits and gravy, build-your-own omelet, eggs with bacon or sausage, pancakes, 1-pound ham steak with eggs and chicken fried steak and eggs. Popular sandwiches are grilled turkey melt with gravy, triple-decker BLT, grilled cheese, French dip, 10-ounce charbroiled hamburgers and open-faced turkey or roast beef sandwich. Among the entrees and specials are fish and chips, spaghetti and meatballs, New York steak with mashed potatoes or fries and vegetable of the day, pork chops, Shrimp Heaven (two shrimp skewers, four fried shrimp, rice), meatloaf and a half pound of fried catfish with hush puppies, fries and jalapeno tartar sauce. There is pizza and salads such as House, Grande Beef Taco, chef with ham, turkey, eggs, tomatoes and cheese, and grilled chicken. Several appetizers are nachos, wings, cheese fries and Santa Fe egg rolls made with chicken, black beans, veggies and salsa. Breakfast begins at $2.29, and entrees start at $5.49. Cadillac Joe’s is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
