Executive chef Carlos Fernandez, a former Le Cordon Bleu instructor, is back serving his sophisticated “American eclectic bar food” on white tablecloths. Among his sandwiches are 100 percent Angus beef burgers (there’s always a daily special burger), veggie burger, spicy chicken, turkey cranberry, half-pound patty melt, grilled portobello mushroom with roasted red peppers, grilled onions and jack cheese with balsamic vinaigrette and greens on toasted hoagie and grilled cheese with choice of American, cheddar, jack, pepperjack, Swiss or smoked Gouda on white, wheat or rye. There are salads (Caesar, Southwestern grilled steak, Mediterranean) and appetizers such as nachos (add beef or chicken), hummus platter, onion rings with ranch dressing and chef’s special hot sauce chicken wings. Featured entrees are grilled vegetable tower, pork chop with apple chutney and herb polenta, rib-eye with chef’s special seasoning and pasta fettuccini Don Carlos, where fettuccini is tossed with shrimp, Cajun Sausage, red peppers, onions and roasted garlic cream sauce. Another favorite is chicken Angelina, created 25 years ago in honor of the chef’s then-2-year-old daughter. Two desserts are chocolate Molten Lava Cake and creme brulee. Sandwiches begin at $ 5.99, and entrees start at $13.99. Carlos’ Kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. — Jack Bulavsky
