2. Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade: The 22nd annual parade is set from 9 to 11 a.m. July 4, beginning at the corner of Hillpointe Road and Hills Center Drive and traveling south on Village Center Circle and west on Trailwood Drive. The route ends before the corner of Trailwood and Spring Gate Lane. More than 70 entries are planned, including traditional floats, Macy’s-style giant inflatable balloons, bands, performing groups and a variety of kids’ storybook and cartoon characters. 3. Free musical: A free performance of the musical “Dublin Rising” is scheduled for 8 p.m. July 1 and 2 and 2 p.m. July 3 at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive. By Krishna Alexandra and Lorien Patton, it is an original story about the everyday women involved in the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin, Ireland, which paved the way for Irish independence in 1921. Summer Screen Series: The free, family-friendly movie series is set for dusk Thursdays through Aug. 25 on Park Centre Drive near H&M at Downtown Summerlin, 1980 Festival Plaza Drive. “Captain America” is planned for June 30 and “Minions” for July 7. Madness Tennis Camp: The camp is planned for children 5 to 13 through Aug. 19 at the Darling Tennis Center, 7901 W. Washington Ave. Activities include swimming, movies, mini golf, laser tag, bowling and games. The professional coaching staff at the center will group the children according to age and ability and focus on stroke development, competitive strategies and more. The camp also includes three field trips a week. Full-day camp is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $200 per session. Half-day camp is from 9 a.m. to noon for $120 per session. Summer Adult Softball: League play began June 6, and registration is open until full. The cost is $475 per team, plus $168 umpire fees, and play is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. or 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial softball fields, 101 N. Pool at the Plaza: The renovated rooftop pool at the Plaza, 1 S. Main St., plans to host a grand opening event for hotel guests and the general public at 7:30 p.m. July 2 with a performance by the Johnny Cash tribute band, Cash’d Out, planned for 8:30 p.m. and a fireworks show planned for 9:30 p.m. Grand opening festivities are set to continue through the weekend, including a barbecue at 11 a.m. each day with entertainment from a local DJ, and a pickleball exhibition and round robin held in conjunction with players from the USA Pickleball Association set for July 3 and 4. Lake Las Vegas Independence Day Celebration: The event is slated to start at 2 p.m. July 3 at MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas, 75 Montelago Blvd. The event is expected to include two simultaneous fireworks shows at 8:40 p.m., and a performance by the Henderson Symphony Orchestra. Boulder City Damboree Celebration: Boulder City is set to host its 68th annual Fourth of July celebration starting at 7 a.m. July 4 with a pancake breakfast, followed by a 9 a.m. parade, along with games and concessions, music and a water fight where float riders and bystanders will battle with squirt guns. Guided Hikes: The free activity is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. July 3, 10 and 17 at the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway, 2525 Kyle Canyon Road. Hot yoga in the Neon Boneyard: The Neon Museum plans to offer one-hour hot yoga sessions with certified instructor Eileen Lorraine in its outdoor Neon Boneyard, 770 Las Vegas Blvd. North, at 5:30 p.m. July 6 and 20, and Aug. 3, 17 and 31. The class is appropriate for beginners to advanced yogis age 18 or older (children must be accompanied by an adult guardian) and will consist of flowing vinyasa sessions set to vintage Las Vegas-inspired beats.
