CREEKSIDE HOSPICE SEEKS VOLUNTEERS
Creekside Hospice, 3675 Pecos-McLeod Interconnect, Suite 900, is looking for volunteers to aid with administrative duties or patient well-being.
Volunteers are needed year-round to bring companionship to people in the final months or weeks of life. There are no set commitments.
SITES TO ACCEPT CHRISTMAS TREES FOR RECYCLING
The Southern Nevada Christmas Tree Recycling Committee is set to recycle Christmas trees at more than 20 locations across the valley.
The trees are set to be chipped into organic mulch for public gardens and parks. All nonorganic objects, including lights, tinsel and nails, should be removed before donation. Flocked trees cannot be recycled.
Last year, Southern Nevada residents recycled 15,000 trees.
Trees can be dropped off from Dec. 26 to Jan. 15 at the following locations in the Sunrise/Whitney area:
— Lowe’s, 2465 N. Nellis Blvd.
— Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road.
— Nellis Air Force Base’s Recycling Center, Building 461.

TRAIL NEAR RUBY CREEK DRIVE AT SLOAN LANE PARTIALLY CLOSED
A section of trail behind Ruby Creek Drive at Sloan Lane is closed to accommodate construction for the Las Vegas Wash Project.
The project is scheduled to provide 4 miles of flood control improvements to the Las Vegas and Flamingo washes through residential neighborhoods and commercial developments.
The closure is expected to last through July.

The Paradise Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Paradise Recreation and Community Services Center, 4775 McLeod Drive.
The Whitney Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 2 at the Whitney Recreation Center, 5712 Missouri Ave.
The Sunrise Manor Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 2 at the Hollywood Recreation and Community Services Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.
