The Sports Grill kicks tailgate food up a notch at Santa Fe Station

Yes, it's tailgate food. But it's been ratcheted up a notch or two.

The Sports Grill, inside Santa Fe Station, 4949 N. Rancho Drive, is perched on the edge of the sports book, an elevated area set up to give a prime view of the huge monitors so you don't miss the action while grabbing a bite.

Hot dogs can be grilled over an open flame. Burgers are served with all the fixings and then some. The menu, called the Seventh Inning Stretch, includes seasoned fries that carry a kick, its own brand of potato chips, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks and nachos.

The red meat choices include hot dogs: the Wrigley dog, the chili-enhanced Cowboy dog, the Frito dog with the brand-name chips and pico de gallo, and chili cheese corn dog. Chargrill any hot dog for extra flavor. Burgers come big and bold — There's the standard Sports Grill burger, the bacon burger, the Wrigley burger with peppers and celery salt for extra kick, and the Black and Blue burger with bleu cheese for extra bite.

If you really want to turn up the heat, there's the jalapeno cheddar burger.

The Sports Grill serves one burger that satisfies even the hungriest of appetites: the Gridiron. But a warning: Better open wide and grow extra-large hands for this one. Chef Alex de la Cruz Capua put his special touch on this towering giant to include a charbroiled patty with cheese, a split hot dog and a fried egg.

The Sports Grill is open Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday during every game. Call 702-658-4900 or visit santafestation.sclv.com.
