CARLSBAD, Calif. — Former NFL star linebacker Junior Seau drove off a cliff and was hospitalized with minor injuries Monday, less than nine hours after he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. The 12-time Pro Bowler’s Cadillac SUV was found on the beach about 100 feet below the roadside. Seau was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital in San Diego. Seau’s 25-year-old live-in girlfriend told authorities that Seau assaulted her during an argument Sunday night at his Oceanside home.
HENNING, Tenn. — Two gunmen opened fire Monday at a post office in a rural West Tennessee town that was home to “Roots” author Alex Haley, killing two workers during what a survivor and authorities described as an attempted robbery. The shooting happened Monday morning at the post office in Henning. Officers were searching for two men, and no arrests have been made. District Attorney Mike Dunavant said the case involved “disturbing violence” but did not elaborate.
