Lakers’ Jackson ready for career stretch run

Phil Jackson claims he’s done coaching multimillionaires after this NBA season. At 65 and with 11 championships and 1,098 wins in his back pocket, the decision to retire was easy to make. Jackson coaches in Las Vegas for the final time when the Los Angeles Lakers host the Sacramento Kings at 7 p.m. today at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Clinton urges voters to embrace Reid

President Bill Clinton on Tuesday night urged a largely Democratic crowd at Valley High School to help return U.S. Sen. Harry Reid to Washington. “In a normal time,” Clinton said, Reid would be winning re-election by 25 points and his GOP challenger Sharron Angle wouldn’t be an electoral threat. But these are not normal times, Clinton acknowledged.
