David Humm was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1988. Except for family members, he didn’t tell anybody. He didn’t want people to feel sorry for him, for that was never his style.

David Humm, perhaps the greatest quarterback in Las Vegas prep history who went on to a storied career at Nebraska and later played 10 years in the National Football League, died late Tuesday.
