A suspect has been taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol, several hours after a shooting on the Strip late Sunday left one person critically injured and a hotel-casino on lockdown for several hours.
Officers were called to the 3700 block of Alcantara Lane, near Elkhorn Road and Aviary Way, around 8 p.m. and found a man with gunshot wounds.
Officers responded about 10:50 a.m. to a car wash on the 2400 block of North Martin Luther King Boulevard, near Carey Avenue, according to a statement from the North Las Vegas Police Department.
The death is the seventh homicide the department has investigated this year, according to records maintained by the Review-Journal.
Detectives were conducting the investigation on South Valley View Boulevard south of West Sahara Avenue.
The victims were taken to an area hospital, and the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
