Jazmin Felix finished the 3.1-mile course at Veterans Park in 19 minutes, 28.6 seconds to win the Class 4A state cross country title.
Nicholas held off hard-charging Massimiliano Swenson of Bishop Gorman to become Desert Oasis’ first region cross country champion. The Diamondbacks also won the boys region team title, another first in school history.
Basic’s Raquel Chavez used her change of pace to her advantage in winning the 4A Desert Region girls race at Veteran Memorial Park in Boulder City on Friday.
