Bishop Gorman rolled to a home win over Coronado to finish the regular season 10-0 and earn the No. 1 seed in the Class 5A Division I playoffs.
Bishop Gorman only had one first-half possession and led by four points at halftime at Shadow Ridge on Friday night.
Only three of the 14 teams in the new Class 4A made the playoffs last season, and none of them earned a postseason victory.
Silverado returns many of its top players after a season in which it went 12-0, won the Class 4A state championship and outscored its opponents 628-128.

Daniel Britt threw four touchdown passes and ran for one as the Patriots rolled to the Desert Region semis. Bishop Gorman domainated Coronado 52-7.
Garrett Castro threw a 6-yard touchdown pass, and Hector Barrios-Baez knocked home the game-winning extra point for Green Valley in a 24-23 win over Foothill.
The Panthers (24-3, 9-0 Mountain League) have a two-game lead over Centennial, Rancho and Shadow Ridge with four matches remaining in the regular season.

The 11-game regular-season television schedule was released Friday afternoon. All games will air live at 7 p.m. each Thursday on KVMY (My LV TV).
Centennial ran away with its ninth straight Class 4A team championship. The Bulldogs scored 126 points. Runners-up Carson and Sierra Vista each had 54.
Bonds, who also ran on the winning 400 relay team and finished third in the 100, helped Centennial build a big lead heading into Saturday’s events.
