County commissioners voted to approve a little over $30 million to support the construction and operation of four affordable housing projects.

The county hopes to use federal dollars to create a “one-stop shop” for home and building improvements, including those to enhance air quality.
In the near future, officials say they envision low-income families having the opportunity to purchase homes, not merely rent them.

The public housing agency’s governing body last met before July 1, when a law took effect that shrank the commission from 13 to nine members. A series of recent city council meetings throughout the Las Vegas Valley has added three new members, but one seat remains open.
