Plenty of league titles and playoff seedings hang in the balance, and several games will determine how teams line up entering the postseason.
Here is the 2019 Nevada Preps All-Southern Nevada football team.
Rigo Carrasco scored twice for the top-seeded and defending state champion Wildcats in a 3-1 win. Desert Region No. 1 Bishop Gorman beat Desert Oasis to stay unbeaten.
Martin Blake ran for 113 yards and a touchdown and returned a punt for a score to help the Pioneers to a 48-7 Southeast League win over Eldorado.
The Friday game was suspended, and a review is underway by the Southern Nevada Officials Association and the NIAA. A double forfeiture is the likely outcome.
Centennial looks to avenge last year’s 36-7 loss to Faith Lutheran, strengthen its status as Northwest League favorite in one of the valley’s top matchups.
Koy Riggin threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, and Foothill held on for a 29-27 home win over Canyon Springs on Friday night.
Bonds, who also ran on the winning 400 relay team and finished third in the 100, helped Centennial build a big lead heading into Saturday’s events.
Here are the all-region boys volleyball teams, as selected by coaches.
Martin ran the 100-meter dash in a personal-record time of 10.71 seconds on Saturday morning at Desert Oasis to claim the Mountain Region championship and an automatic bid in the state meet next week. The sturdy senior doubled as a running back for Legacy’s football team and said he started preparing for track season after football concluded.
Edmond ran the 100 meters in 11.84 seconds on Saturday at Desert Oasis to secure the Moutain Region championship — and an automatic bid to the Class 4A state meet next week. Teammate Aniya Smith finished second in 12.11, and Centennial’s Quincy Bonds ran 12.16 for third.
