Three title games involving Southern Nevada teams are on the docket. Basic and Liberty meet in the Class 4A Sunrise Region title game Friday for the third straight season, and the Class 3A and Class 1A finals are Saturday afternoon.

Everybody at my school is obsessed with the “Mannequin Challenge.” I decided to join the fun and do my version. Ready?
This is the final week of the regular season in the Class 4A Sunset Region, and the playoff picture looks like my 4-year-old cousin’s finger-painting. It’s a complete mess.
I have my white Vans all cleaned up for my “Damn, Daniel” Halloween costume. But first, it’s my favorite week of the prep football season.
Dust off the bootleg T-shirts with the funny slogans, and get the trophies out of storage. It’s “Rivalry Week” across the valley.
Maybe Bishop Gorman didn’t play the best team in California, or the best team in Florida, or the best team in Texas. But the Gaels played more good teams than anybody else, and that’s all that matters when it comes to prep football rankings.
Sure enough, league play in the Class 4A Sunset Region and Class 3A starts this week, the true indicator that summer is done. Even Bishop Gorman is taking a break from irking out-of-state fanbases to play a Southwest League contest against Bonanza. (I didn’t include that game in my picks, but, spoiler alert, Gorman is going to win.)
The unofficial Clark County School District football title game takes place when Desert Pines visits six-time defending Sunrise Region champion Liberty at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Fielder finally made it out of high school and is about to start college. Shocking, right? But before he left, he handed over this column to me, his younger brother. That’s right, another Fielder. Nice to meet you.
Before I can graduate, there’s some basketball to discuss. The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association boys and girls state tournaments are in Reno this week, and I took a break from writing my book about the 2015 football season (“The Year of the Butt Punt”) to make the trip north and check out all the action.
Eric and Skeet have been begging me for the past few weeks to use their new power ratings.
This is my favorite week of the prep football season.
The Division I-A Southern Region playoffs begin, there are two league titles up for grabs, and all the games are Thursday because of Nevada Day.
The prep football season is winding down, and for the Division I-A teams, this is the final week of the regular season.
“This (stuff) is TOO easy!” After seven weeks of prep football action, I am nailing 72 percent of my picks straight-up. Three of my losses this season came last week when I missed every play in my prop bet extravaganza. (#Karma Right, Durango fans?)
If you saw me at school this week, you probably noticed the huge smile on my face and the extra bounce in my step. No, I didn’t get a date for homecoming yet, but I’m still feeling quite chipper. That’s what happens when you correctly predict seven out of eight prep football games like I did last week.
