Shadow Ridge senior running back Aubrey Nellems was bypassed by FBS programs concerned about his religious beliefs, but he signed a letter of intent to play at Southern Utah, where he will play linebacker.
Bishop Gorman and Liberty will be playing football at least once a year. Under the new Class 5A realignment, the two leagues will do away with the traditional Sunset and Sunrise, east-west configuration, and instead align the schools based on a north-south orientation.
There’s no right or wrong to this, only campaigning for what you believe is in the best interest of your specific high school program.
Liberty senior quarterback Kenyon Oblad, the state’s all-time leader in passing yards, committed to UNLV on Sunday morning during his official visit with the program.
The NIAA will meet Thursday to gather a recommendation to make to the board of control on Jan. 17. It is expected that the board will finalize the details of the new Class 5A for high school sports.

Next year the two Bishop Gorman stars will be on opposite sides of one of college football’s best rivalries, with Palaie Gaoteote heading to USC and Dorian Thompson-Robinson committed to UCLA.
