The schools now are in the same region for the first time, and the Desert Region title will be on the line when Liberty (7-4) plays at Gorman (9-3) at 1:10 p.m Saturday.
The Gaels, who have won the past nine large-school state championships, host Mater Dei at 6 p.m. Friday in a game that will be televised on ESPNU. The Monarchs ended Gorman’s 55-game win streak with a 35-21 win Sept. 1.

Deago Stubbs had 219 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns for Arbor View on Saturday, and teammate Kyle Graham went for 117 yards and four touchdowns as the Aggies coasted to a 55-26 victory at Shadow Ridge.
Sierra Vista limited Clark to 144 yards of offense and forced three turnovers en route to a 49-14 home win. Clark had one offensive touchdown, and 87 yards came on one play.
