A late turnover helped the Bishop Gorman boys basketball team defeat Coronado to win the Class 5A state title Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Liberty only beat Bishop Gorman once in four tries, but it came in an overtime classic that netted the Patriots their first boys basketball state championship.
Liberty’s Joshua Jefferson averaged 17.7 points and 10 rebounds in his senior season and led the Patriots to the Class 5A state title with an upset win over Bishop Gorman.
Coronado High star guard Jaden Hardy was named a McDonald’s All-American on Tuesday. He averaged 30.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 8.4 assists in the 2019-20 season.
