Coronado’s boys golf shot a two-day total of 23-over-par 599 as a team to win the Class 4A state golf tournament at Reflection Bay Golf Club on Tuesday. It was the Cougars’ first title since 2012, and Coronado players celebrated by jumping into Lake Las Vegas.
Foothill’s Noah MacFawn and Arbor View’s Hazen Newman each shot a 36-hole total of 1-over-par 143 to share the individual title at the Pahrump Valley Invitational boys golf tournament at Mountain Falls.
Entering the day eight strokes back of the leader, Faith Lutheran senior Sydney Smith shot 7-under-par 65 Tuesday to finish 2-under-par 142 for the tournament and win the Class 4A state title at Highland Falls.
A trio of freshmen concluded the opening round of the Class 4A state golf tournament at Highland Falls in the top 10, and will look to play spoiler against a sea of experienced golfers at the same 5,579-yard course on Tuesday.
