Nicholas held off hard-charging Massimiliano Swenson of Bishop Gorman to become Desert Oasis’ first region cross country champion. The Diamondbacks also won the boys region team title, another first in school history.
Franklin had the fastest time among boys over two races, racing through the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 0.4 seconds. Felix had the fastest girls time, at 18:31.8.
Nathan Carlin pulled away from the field Tuesday and helped Foothill’s boys cross country team capture the freshmen race of the Bud O’Dea Classic at Desert Breeze Park.
Conner Nicholas picked up his fourth victory in an invitational meet this season by capturing the large-school race of the Lake Mead Invitational on Saturday at Veteran’s Memorial Park.
Centennial’s Noah Norris edged teammate Adam Ganz and Palo Verde’s John List by less than a second Thursday to win a 2.1-mile boys cross country race at Floyd Lamb Park.
Shadow Ridge placed seven runners among the top 10 finishers Wednesday and won a boys cross country race at Faith Lutheran.
Claire Rawlins trailed Basic’s Raquel Chavez for much of the race, but stayed within striking distance to the end. She then raced past Chavez and held off Sierra Vista’s Sarriah Brown to win the 3.1-mile race in 19 minutes, 16 seconds.
Centennial had the top three finishers and four of the top six Thursday to easily win a boys cross country race at Floyd Lamb Park.
Shadow Ridge’s boys cross country team placed its five scoring runners among the top 10 finishers Wednesday to win a seven-team meet at Floyd Lamb Park.
Coronado placed its five scoring runners in the top eight Tuesday to win an eight-team boys cross country meet at Sonata Park.
The Valley junior earned his first major meet victory Saturday, winning the boys varsity A race of the UNLV Invitational held at the Lake Las Vegas Sports Club.
