Centennial ran away with its ninth straight Class 4A team championship. The Bulldogs scored 126 points. Runners-up Carson and Sierra Vista each had 54.
Bonds, who also ran on the winning 400 relay team and finished third in the 100, helped Centennial build a big lead heading into Saturday’s events.

Martin ran the 100-meter dash in a personal-record time of 10.71 seconds on Saturday morning at Desert Oasis to claim the Mountain Region championship and an automatic bid in the state meet next week. The sturdy senior doubled as a running back for Legacy’s football team and said he started preparing for track season after football concluded.
Edmond ran the 100 meters in 11.84 seconds on Saturday at Desert Oasis to secure the Moutain Region championship — and an automatic bid to the Class 4A state meet next week. Teammate Aniya Smith finished second in 12.11, and Centennial’s Quincy Bonds ran 12.16 for third.

Ariana Simmons was 5-for-6 with a triple and four RBIs Thursday to help Valley’s softball team to a 25-15, six-inning win at Del Sol.
Bryce Robison spun a four-hit shutout Thursday as Palo Verde’s baseball team clinched the No. 2 seed for the Mountain Region tournament with a 4-0 home win over Centennial.
Alex Marin had 14 kills and two aces Wednesday as host Del Sol’s boys volleyball team clinched the top seed for the Class 3A Southern League tournament with a 25-21, 25-5, 25-17 win over Sunrise Mountain.
Coronado and Centennial both won Tuesday to secure the No. 1 seeds for their respective region softball tournament.
Basic and Desert Oasis each won Tuesday to remain undefeated in Desert League baseball play heading into their matchup Wednesday at Basic.
Cooper Jarman had 29 assists and 13 digs on Monday to help Palo Verde’s boys volleyball team clinch the top seed for the Mountain Region playoffs with a 25-13, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22 win at Shadow Ridge.
