The Centennial girls track and field team reclaimed its state title Saturday, while the Shadow Ridge boys also won a 5A state championship.
Centennial’s Zoey Bonds won four events at the Class 5A state track and field meet and also was a setter and captain on the volleyball team, which finished second at state.
Track and field meets this season have been limited to four teams. That will change at this week’s regional meets, where as many as 10 teams will compete.
Arbor View’s Israel Mann and Rickey Jones, Legacy’s Lee Wilson and BJ Phillips, and Bishop Gorman’s Mark Person and James Petrie will play at Southwest Minnesota State.

Sparked by individual wins from Rome Odunze and Kyu Kelly, the Gaels wrapped up their second consecutive Class 4A title by scoring 99 points.
Centennial ran away with its ninth straight Class 4A team championship. The Bulldogs scored 126 points. Runners-up Carson and Sierra Vista each had 54.
Bonds, who also ran on the winning 400 relay team and finished third in the 100, helped Centennial build a big lead heading into Saturday’s events.
Martin ran the 100-meter dash in a personal-record time of 10.71 seconds on Saturday morning at Desert Oasis to claim the Mountain Region championship and an automatic bid in the state meet next week. The sturdy senior doubled as a running back for Legacy’s football team and said he started preparing for track season after football concluded.
Edmond ran the 100 meters in 11.84 seconds on Saturday at Desert Oasis to secure the Moutain Region championship — and an automatic bid to the Class 4A state meet next week. Teammate Aniya Smith finished second in 12.11, and Centennial’s Quincy Bonds ran 12.16 for third.
Gabriel Smith won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes Wednesday to help Desert Oasis’ boys track team capture a four-team meet at Spring Valley.
CharLeyanse Howard won three individual events Wednesday to help host Del Sol’s girls track team to victory in a four-team meet.
The girls stole the show at the Blaine Thompson-Las Vegas Track Classic on Saturday at Desert Oasis.
