UNLV football coach Tony Sanchez announced his early signing class Wednesday. The Rebels signed 15 players, 11 of whom will enroll in January and go through spring practices.

UNLV’s football team painted the Fremont Cannon red on Monday morning at the student union. The Rebels claimed the trophy by defeating UNR 34-29 on Saturday night at Sam Boyd Stadium.

UNLV plays UNR at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium. The teams play for the Fremont Cannon and state bragging rights.
Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State dropped football in the early 1990s because of financial considerations. UNLV, however, remains committed to the sport.
UNLV hopes to take advantage of a Hawaii defense that allows more than 200 yards rushing per game. Rebels running back Lexington Thomas is coming off a 133-yard, two-touchdown game at San Diego State.
UNLV plays its second-most heated football rival at 8 p.m. Saturday at Aloha Stadium, with Hawaii taking a back seat in intensity only to UNR. Those are the only two UNLV games in which the winner receives an award.
UNLV has not won at San Diego State since 2000. The teams meet again there at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
San Diego State has played seven one-possession games in a row and won six of them. UNLV visits the Aztecs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
UNLV running back Charles Williams is coming off his best performance of the season. He rushed for 121 yards on 16 carries against his hometown Fresno State team in Saturday’s 48-3 home loss.
Fresno State never let UNLV’s offense get going in a 48-3 victory over the Rebels on Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium. It was the Rebels’ sixth consecutive defeat.
UNLV’s opponent Saturday, Fresno State, leads the Mountain West with allowing 13.5 points per game. The Bulldogs also have held their past 19 opponents to 30 points or fewer, tops in the nation.
Fresno State cracked The Associated Press’ poll at No. 20 this week and the Amway Coaches Poll at No. 23, the first time since 2013 the Bulldogs appeared in both rankings.
