Desert Oasis pitcher/infielder Aaron Roberts was the first local player selected Wednesday, going to Boston with the final pick of the 15th round.
The junior shortstop, who starred at Desert Oasis High School, hit .356 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs this season and was named the Mountain West’s co-player of the year.
