The coronavirus pandemic prematurely ended the seasons for UNLV’s spring sports. Now the coaches and athletes are trying to make the best of the situation.
UNLV
The NCAA Division I Council voted Monday to give college athletes who compete in spring sports such as baseball, softball and lacrosse a way to get back the season they lost, but did not guarantee financial aid.
UNLV baseball coach Stan Stolte said his team has not shown signs of coronavirus after the Rebels’ most recent opponent, Houston, had a staff member reportedly develop symptoms for COVID-19.
UNLV, like other college athletic programs, is waiting to see how long the shutdown lasts.
UNLV will not allow fans for its spring sports events for the rest of the season, according to a joint statement with UNR on Wednesday.
