It took them all of 60 minutes and an additional series of plays, but they finally embraced such a moment.
For the first 30 minutes of Friday night’s homecoming game at Sam Boyd Stadium, UNLV looked like it might be cruising to a victory over Fresno State. It seems victories never come easy for the Rebels these days, though.
UNLV kicker Nicolai Bornand, the one who handles kickoffs and long field goals, drilled a 33-yard field goal in overtime to give UNLV a much-needed victory and set off a frenzy among UNLV players on the Sam Boyd Stadium field.
Blake Decker had a very solid game, completing 29 of 40 passes for 332 yards and a score. He did throw an interception and probably saw two more potential picks dropped by Fresno State defenders, but those plays are wiped away by the victory.
UNLV defeated Fresno State in overtime by a score of 30-27. It is the Rebels’ first win over the Bulldogs since 1984.
