Valley
The host Gators (6-8) overcame a slow start to score a 50-44 victory over Spanish Springs in the diamond division quarterfinals. They’ll play Dimond (Alaska) on Saturday morning in the semifinals.
The Foothill girls basketball team opened the Gator Winter Classic with a 61-32 win over Silverado in the morning and finished its first day of pool play with a 55-29 victory over Boulder City in the afternoon.
Jasmine Richardson scored 13 of her 29 points during a third-quarter run that lifted host Basic’s girls basketball team to a 50-40 win over Mojave on Friday.
Lainey Cornwall scored 12 of her 16 points in the middle two quarters Saturday to lift Moapa Valley’s girls basketball team to a 41-38 win over Boulder City in the championship game of the Lake Mead Holiday Classic at Calvary Chapel.
Coronado gutted out a 54-42 road victory over Rancho in the Sunrise Region quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
Liberty’s girls basketball team went on a 13-0 run to start the game Friday night en route to its 62-20 victory over Foothill in the Diamond bracket quarterfinals of the Gator Winter Classic at Green Valley.
Cimarron-Memorial’s girls basketball team fell behind 18-3 early in the second quarter and couldn’t recover in its 54-45 loss to Spanish Springs in the Gator Winter Classic at Green Valley on Thursday.
Green Valley finished 26.5 percent shooting from the field, including 1-for-11 in the third quarter, to allow visiting Beverly Hills (California) to pull away from a 21-all halftime score and claim a 52-39 victory in the Gator Winter Classic.
Taeha Pankey led all scorers with 16 points Thursday to lead Legacy’s girls basketball team past visiting Shadow Ridge, 46-42.
Kayla Harris had 17 points and nine assists Tuesday as Spring Valley’s girls basketball team earned a 61-59 overtime win over IMG Academy (Florida) in the Sweet 16 Tournament in La Jolla, California.
