Mild warming trend to follow freezing temps Wednesday night in Las Vegas Valley

A mild warming trend will sweep through the valley beginning Thursday after freezing temperatures Wednesday night in some parts of the Las Vegas Valley, the National Weather Service said.

Wednesday night lows “in the heart of the city” dropped to 36 degrees, said meteorologist Chris Outler. On the edge of the valley, in areas near Mountain’s Edge and Boulder City, lows dipped “just below freezing,” Outler said.

But daytime highs through the next week will make for a “relatively mild December” in the valley, meteorologist John Adair said.

High temperatures are forecast for 55 degrees on Thursday, 60 degrees on Friday and 63 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday. By the middle of next week, highs will be almost 10 degrees above normal, the weather service said. Monday’s high will reach 64 degrees, 66 degrees on Tuesday and 67 degrees on Wednesday.

“There are no signs of a good cool down anytime soon,” Adair said. “We might drop down to near normal temperatures by the end of next week, but nothing drastic.”

The valley will stay dry through the weekend with a mix of sunny skies and high clouds.
