Man dies after crashing scooter into Las Vegas business

A Las Vegas man died after his motorized scooter crashed into a central valley business Tuesday night.

William E. Fitzgerald. 53, was driving the scooter north on Rancho Drive at Artesia Avenue about 9:30 p.m. when the vehicle drove onto the sidewalk, struck the Chicago Dogs building at 1078 N. Rancho Drive and fell over, Las Vegas police said.

Fitzgerald was ejected from the scooter. Police said he was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Clark County coroner will determine his cause and manner of death.

This is the 62nd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2016.
