Bull on the loose charges, strikes Ore. man

A bull escaped from its pasture in Oregon on Sunday night, then hit a man after being confronted in a residential neighborhood.

Morgan White said he suffered badly bruised ribs and tissue damage after the bull rammed him and knocked him violently to the ground,

“It felt like a freight train had hit me,” White told KPTV. “I didn’t hit my head. I didn’t pass out, but everything kind of went black for a second.”

Washington County deputies said seven bulls escaped from their owner between Hillsboro and Cornelius and were running loose Sunday night.

Six of the bulls made their way home, but the seventh continued to roam the area for hours and began wandering the streets of Cornelius.

At one point, a local slaughterhouse worker shot the bull twice, but it had little impact on the animal. At 2 p.m., White and a neighbor saw the bull running toward the end of their cul-de-sac and went to investigate.

“I could see it was bleeding. It was disoriented. And we locked eyes,” White said. “And I get scared. And I decided I’m going to make a run for it, which is probably my worst decision.”

White said he managed to crawl away after the bull hit him and call for help. He was taken to the hospital and released Monday evening.

After the encounter with White, the bull then made its way a quarter-mile away just outside of Cornelius.

A sheriff’s deputy responded there and used a rifle to shoot and kill the bull.

The bull’s owner would not comment about the incident.
