Benowitz, Portillo advance to Northwest Singles final

Faith Lutheran's Jake Benowitz and Arbor View's Manuel Portillo will meet Saturday morning  for the boys championship in the Northwest Singles Tournament at Cimarron-Memorial.
 
Benowitz won twice in Friday's action. Portillo, who received a quarterfinal bye, survived a three-set match in the semifinals to move into the final.
 
Benowitz started his day rallying for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Cimarron's Aaron Bowers. He then beat Legacy's Anthony Moced, 6-2, 6-2 to reserve a spot in the final.
 
Portillo was a 6-0, 2-6, 6-0 winner over Cimarron's Brian Grupe in the semifinals.
 
In the only match on the girls side, Cimarron's Natasha Tocco defeated teammate Taj Siversten, 6-2, 6-4.
