Nevada toughens temporary license placards
January 9, 2015 - 5:38 pm
Nevada officials are making temporary license placards that will be harder to counterfeit.
The Department of Motor Vehicles announced that it’s adding a security seal with a unique serial number that will go into a central repository and can be quickly verified by law-enforcement officers. They’ll replace the license plate-sized paper documents that dealers place on vehicles when they’re first sold.
“Our new dealer placards are web-based and computer generated and can be printed locally,” said department Director Troy Dillard.
The department will provide training on the new tags at dealerships in Las Vegas and Reno.
