Kyle Busch returning to racing this weekend

Less than three months after breaking his right leg and left foot in a crash at Daytona International Speedway, Kyle Busch will be climbing back into his familiar No. 18 car this weekend.

Busch, who races for Joe Gibbs Racing, announced his return in a 23-second video posted to his Twitter account on Tuesday morning. The video shows him zipping up his uniform, putting on his helmet and walking toward his race car.

Busch will drive in this weekend’s All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a 165-mile exhibition. Busch is eligible because he won a race last year.

The All-Star Race should serve as a good warmup for the 30-year-old driver before NASCAR’s longest race — the Coca-Cola 600 scheduled for May 24.

While there was no timetable for his return, many did not expect Busch to return until July. If he does race in the Coca-Cola 600, Busch will have only missed 11 races this season.
