Woman charged after placing Craigslist ad for unwanted babies

A Georgia woman was arrested in connection with an advertisement posted on Craigslist that asked mothers to drop off their unwanted babies in a baby box at her home, according to Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The 47-year-old woman, Elaine Williams, told detectives that her 14-year-old daughter "wanted a baby and would get one with or without her help, so she decided to help," Forsyth County News reported.

Detectives received a tip from a resident about the suspicious Craigslist posting in which Williams reportedly promised mothers they could drop their baby in a "baby box."

Williams has been charged with domestic unlawful advertisement for adoption of children. She remains in jail on a $5,610 bond.  Her daughter, who was not named, faces juvenile charges.
