Clouds bringing shade, but not cooler temps, to Las Vegas

Don't expect the overcast weather to stop the 105-degree day the Las Vegas Valley is marching toward.

Temperatures already had climbed to 102 at McCarran International Airport, the National Weather Service's official measuring site, by 12:30 p.m. Thursday, meteorologist Caleb Steele said. The normal high for Aug. 6 is 105.

Nighttime will bring a 20 to 30 percent chance for showers, Steel said.

Chances of rain will evaporate, though. Expect a hot, dry weekend.
