Father suspect in fatal stabbing of 3 young brothers in LA

Three young brothers were identified Thursday one day after they were found fatally stabbed in the back of an SUV in Los Angeles.

The brothers, 8-year-old Alexander Fuentes, 9-year-old Juan Daniel Fuentes and 10-year-old Luis Alfanso Fuentes were discovered in the back of the vehicle early Wednesday morning by a local businessman.

Their father, who has not yet been identified, was found in the front seat, suffering stab wounds to the chest. KTLA reported he remained in the hospital Thursday and had not yet been booked, but was suspected in the killings.

Relatives identified the father as Luis Fuentes. Police said the mother of the boys died several years ago and the boys lived with their father, step-mother and younger sibling until recently. The other child was at daycare when the killings occured while their step-mother was at work.

A local pastor told KTLA the man lived in the SUV with the boys.

“The three boys had their whole lives ahead of them and were like any child their age, playful and happy,” the boy's cousin, Rene Chanquin wrote on a GoFundMe page for the family. “We will miss them so very much and it hurts us to know … they will never live to see another Christmas or celebrate another birthday.”
