Coroner identifies mother found strangled on Thursday

The mother police say was strangled to death by her son in the south valley Thursday afternoon has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.

She is 62-year-old Francine Dinunzio of Las Vegas, staff said Friday.

Police were hunting for her son, David Dinunzio, 36, who made a few troubling phone calls to friends and family, prompting a police welfare check, Metro Lt. Dan McGrath said Thursday.

Officers arrived to find her front door unlocked and Francine Dinunzio dead. David Dinunzio, who has a history of domestic violence and drug use, was nowhere to be found, but police said his clothes and belongings were still at the apartment.

As of Friday morning, no arrest had been made.
