Mob Museum scare over; it was a gift

The small package found in front of the Mob Museum that led to an evacuation Saturday evening did not turn out to be anything serious, Las Vegas police said.

Metro spokesman Lt. Ken Romane said the scene was cleared after learning that the package was from someone who dropped off an item to be donated to the museum.

Parts of Third Street, near the Mob Museum on 300 Stewart Ave., were closed, but opened back up just before 7:30 p.m.

Romane said a bomb squad did respond to the scene.
