Updated November 15, 2024 - 12:38 pm

The Nevada Highway Patrol investigated a fatal single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning near the Las Vegas airport.

According to police, officers responded at about 3:05 a.m. to a crash in the area of I-215 eastbound to Airport Connector (SR171), transition northbound off-ramp.

In a news release Friday, authorities said the preliminary investigation indicates that a blue 2012 Toyota Corolla sedan was traveling eastbound on the I-215 to SR171 northbound off-ramp in the far left travel lane.

According to police, for unknown reasons, the driver of the Toyota lost control and traveled right.

The vehicle began to rotate clockwise, traveling southeast across all travel lanes, where it then left the roadway and struck a support pole, the release said.

The driver of the Toyota, identified by police as 31-year-old Alexandro Guardado, was confirmed dead at scene.
