A pit bull in Oregon is being hailed a hero after saving one of its family members from a swarm of bees.
Last week, 8-year-old Jesse-cole Shaver was playing with some kids near a creek by his home when one stepped on an old log that had a beehive inside, according to KPTV. The bees swarmed the kids, and Jesse-Cole got stuck and was unable to run away from the bees.
The boy’s dog, Hades, grabbed him by the pants and dragged him up the hill away from the bees.
“Hades saw me and came and dragged me up to the grass and stopped and let me crawl on her back and took me to my mom,” Jesse-Cole told KPTV.
Jesse-Cole was stung at least 24 times while his 14-year-old sister Jasmine, who is allergic to bees, was stung five times. Both Jesse-Cole and Jasmine were treated at a nearby hospital and released the same day.
“Oh, I thank my puppy,” their mother told KPTV. “I’m so glad we adopted her.”
