A shooting Wednesday night in Las Vegas left one person dead and two others critically injured, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Metro Lt. Steve Riback said police started receiving reports of gunshots just after 9 p.m. Wednesday in the area of the 2300 block of Olive Street, near South Eastern Avenue and Fremont Street.
When police responded to the scene, Riback said, they found three males suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were taken to local hospitals, where one was pronounced dead Wednesday night.
The Clark County coroner’s office on Monday identified the decedent as 19-year-old Cruz Alejandre Rayford. Rayford died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
Riback said at an early morning news conference Thursday that the other two victims were in critical condition.
“Very little is known at this time, as detectives are currently processing the scene and interviewing witnesses,” Riback said.
Near the scene early Thursday, crime scene tape could be seen at a nearby Lowe’s store and inside a parking lot area near a Wildfire Casino location.
As of 2:30 a.m. Thursday, some residents of a nearby apartment complex remained in an air-conditioned bus provided by police while detectives investigated.
Riback said there was no lingering threat to the public early Thursday, but he asked anyone with information about the homicide to contact Metro.
