Electrical issue leads to smokey escalator at McCarran

The fire department responded Sunday morning to reports of a smoking escalator at McCarran International Airport.

Fire crews arrived to Terminal 3 just after 8:30 a.m., located the source of smoke and discovered that it was an electrical issue, said McCarran airport safety officer Glenn Gardner.

The fire department left McCarran about 9 a.m. and escalator technicians are now fixing the moving staircase, Gardner said.
