Overturned trash-truck causes northeast valley traffic jam

An overturned trash truck caused a northeast valley traffic jam Tuesday afternoon.

The truck rotated right and plopped down on its side near the intersection of Lake Mead and Lamb Boulevards about 4:15 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Larry Hadfield said. No other cars were involved, and though the truck’s driver was initially trapped, he did not require medical assistance after the wreck.

It was unclear what caused the crash, which left debris from the truck in the rightmost lane and on the right sidewalk of Lamb Boulevard, just north of the intersection.

“Looks like it kind of rolled,” Hadfield said.

Traffic was slowed for a couple of hours after the crash as crews works to clean the mess, turn the truck upright and tow it from the scene.
