Police: Man stabbed girlfriend to death during argument in downtown Las Vegas
A 46-year-old man was arrested Friday after he stabbed and killed his girlfriend during an argument in downtown Las Vegas, police said.
Jose Galan-Preval was arrested on an open murder charge Friday after officers responded to a report of a stabbing just before 1 p.m. in the 1800 block of Canosa Avenue, between East Oakey Boulevard and East St. Louis Avenue, according to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department.
“Arriving officers located a female suffering from apparent stab wounds inside a residence,” the news release said. “Medical personnel responded and transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she later died.”
The woman had not been identified as of Saturday afternoon, police said.
Police said Galan-Preval was “later located and taken into custody without incident.”
According to an online jail roster, Galan-Preval was listed as an inmate at the Clark County Detention Center as of Saturday.
Galan-Preval faces a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon, according to Las Vegas Justice Court records. His next court date has been set for Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., court records show.
