Restoring the former UNLV mascot isn’t a good idea (Jan. 16 Review-Journal). We know the name Rebel refers to rebelling against bossy Reno, but its association with the Confederacy taints its meaning. How about something that suggests Nevada becoming a state during wartime to keep slavery from spreading? I’m thinking Battle Born Bear.
