Facebook says lesbian kiss photo violated ‘community’s standards’

A woman in Italy had her Facebook account blocked and an image removed from her profile after the social network said it violated its community’s standards.

According to The Local, Carlotta Trevisan, 28, posted a photo that featured a lesbian couple, with rainbow flags painted on their cheeks, kissing, last Thursday to her Facebook page.

Later that day, she received a message from the social network that stated the photo “violated the community’s standards on nudity and pornography,” and she was asked to remove the image. When she didn’t, Facebook removed the image and blocked her out of her account.

Trevisan was allowed access to her account again Sunday night, and took a stand by reposting the image, which still remained her Facebook profile image as of Tuesday afternoon.
